Kody Dunford
Violin, Viola Teacher
Kody Dunford is a dedicated teacher and performer focused on fostering confidence, creativity, and a love of music in students of all ages. He has experience teaching at all levels, from beginners to advanced college students. As a graduate assistant to Professor Ayane Kozasa at the Cincinnati College–Conservatory of Music, Kody taught undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, while also maintaining a private studio for young learners.
As an artist, Kody has collaborated with renowned performers like Alexi Kenney, Nobuko Imai, Kristen Lee, and the Kronos Quartet. He integrates this extensive musical experience into his teaching, inspiring students with real-world examples and strategies.
Kody views music education as a means to develop focus, discipline, self-expression, and joy. He encourages students to set goals, build technical skills, and explore music's role in their lives. Beyond teaching, he engages with the community by organizing benefit concerts and performing in various settings.
Kody holds a Master’s in Viola Performance from the Cincinnati College–Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor’s from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, with additional coursework at the University of California, Irvine. His principal teachers include Ayane Kozasa, Dimitri Murrath, and Jerzy Kosmala. Originally from Honolulu, Hawai‘i, he enjoys returning home to spend time with family and enjoy the outdoors.
