Georgianna Askoff
Piano Teacher
Georgianna Askoff first began teaching piano at age 12 with her younger sister as her first student. While still in college, she was recruited to take over another teacher’s studio. In the 48 years since then, she has been teaching continuously in schools, churches, privately, and online.Â
Ms. Askoff also has decades of experience as a church musician, having served as pianist, organist, vocal soloist, and choir director. She is also a composer, and her original composition was featured at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the direction of Ragnar Bolin. In addition to her vocal solo work, Ms. Askoff has appeared onstage with opera companies on both the east and west coasts. Her choral singing has included performances at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York as well as Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco.Â
Notable teachers include Edgar Roberts of the Juilliard Pre-College Division faculty. She holds a B.A. in music with a concentration in piano performance from the State University of New York, New Paltz.Â
Ms. Askoff has a flexible and creative attitude in the teaching studio, engaging her students to enjoy the process of making beautiful sounds, beginning improvisations, and composing their own original melodies—in addition to acquiring sound traditional technique and preparing for performance opportunities. She loves teaching the next generation to acquire the same love of music and the joy of performance that she has enjoyed throughout her life.Â
